Never send money
Not for transport, data, a deposit or an emergency. Someone asking for money before you meet is the most common scam there is.
Keep codes and details to yourself
Never share a code someone sends you, your bank details, or your home or work address. Offbeat will never ask for them in a chat.
Take your time
Chats have no countdown. Be wary of anyone rushing you onto another app, or pushing to meet before you’re ready.
Meet somewhere public
Tell a friend where you’re going, get there on your own and keep your phone charged. You can leave whenever you want.
Photos can travel
A photo you show someone can be screenshotted, copied or found through image search. Taking a reveal back stops new views, but it can’t recall copies. The phone app tells you when someone takes a screenshot; a browser can’t detect it.
Report anything, any time
Report from an ad, a like or a chat, even after the chat has ended. The person isn’t told who reported them, and someone on our team looks at every report. Blocking and unmatching are free.
