Community guidelines
Version 1.0, updated 6 October 2026. These apply to ads, photos, chats and anything connected to an Offbeat connection, including after you meet.
Respect consent and boundaries
A like, a match, a photo reveal or a payment is not consent to sexual conversation, intimacy or a meeting. Ask before you get explicit. Anyone can say no, change their mind, stop replying or end a connection at any time. Don’t pressure or threaten anyone, and don’t contact them somewhere else to get around a no or a block.
Flirting and sexual chat between matched adults who both want it is fine, as long as nobody is paying for it. Unwanted explicit messages, harassment, coercion, hate speech, threats and exposing someone without permission are not. Photos, videos and voice notes follow the same rules, and only once you’ve both agreed to share them. Never send explicit media nobody asked for, and never save or share someone’s media outside the chat without their permission.
Be truthful and use your own account
Use one account, and only your own. Don’t share, sell or hand it over, pretend to be someone else, or use another person’s photos. A pseudonym and a text-only ad are welcome; you never need a public face photo or your legal name. A photo presented as you must be you, not a stock or AI-generated face.
Don’t make a new account to get around a restriction or ban. If you lose access to your email, contact support. Your history can’t move to a replacement account.
Keep ads personal and appropriate
Say what kind of connection you’re open to and what a good first chat or meeting looks like. Photos are optional. Ads and their photos can’t include nudity, explicit sexual descriptions, contact details, social handles, payment requests or links to other places, including when they’re hidden in an image or written in code.
No misleading bait, copy-paste spam, unrelated promotion or stolen content. Spelling mistakes and everyday wording are fine. Ads go live straight away, and one that breaks these rules can be removed after a report.
Keep connections non-commercial
Don’t advertise, buy or sell sexual services, escorting, pornography, paid sexting or intimate content. Don’t ask for money or gifts in return for a reply, intimacy, a meeting or your photos. This applies in private chats as well as ads, including coded offers and promotions for other platforms.
Agreeing to share an ordinary date expense isn’t automatically a problem, and mentioning money doesn’t prove a scam. Never use an expense to pressure someone or to hide a paid sexual offer.
Any Offbeat fee goes through Offbeat’s own checkout, for the service it names. Nobody earns money for accepting a like or replying, and paying never buys anyone’s time, reply or consent.
Protect privacy and watch for scams
Don’t share someone’s messages, photos, identity or location without their permission. Keep your codes, passwords, bank details and home or work address to yourself. Be careful with transport deposits, urgent requests for money, unfamiliar payment links and pressure to move the chat elsewhere.
Offbeat is for adults 18 and over, but that doesn’t guarantee anyone will behave well. A photo you show can link you to your identity elsewhere through image search, and anything someone has already seen can be copied on another device. Offbeat can’t recall those copies.
Report concerns and get support
Blocking, reporting and unmatching are free, and reporting and blocking are separate choices. A report doesn’t notify the other person, and it isn’t a finding that they broke a rule.
You can report something that happened after you moved off Offbeat or met, including after the connection ended. For seven days after a chat ends or is cleared you can still report from it, and support takes later reports, though deleted evidence may be gone. Share what’s relevant, not unrelated personal details or ID documents. Describe illegal or unsafe material instead of uploading it, and never upload sexual images of anyone under 18.
Serious risks can lead to a temporary restriction while we review. A permanent ban always needs a documented decision by a person. Where it applies, you’ll get a reason and can appeal within seven days.
